Playbusters supports community groups across nine Housing Associations areas as they part fund the project. Support given to the groups in varying degrees depending on the needs of the group. Some of the groups have reached the point where they have grown in strength and have strong networks with other partners, others are still embryonic.
Due to the changes in boundaries of CPP areas we will now be carrying out workshops in Cranhill, Gallowgate, Carmyle, Dennistoun, Barlarnark and Haghill.
These nine housing association areas are:
1. Tollcross
2. Parkhead
3. Shettleston
4. Bridgeton
5. Camlachie
6. Dalmarnock
7. Calton
8. Dennistoun
9. Cranhill
Area Plans/Audit of Facilities
As part of Playbusters remit is to work in partnership with the community, voluntary sector, council and other agencies in developing and implenting a strategic plan for play development for the East End a working group was set up to look at area plans. The working group consisted of Playbusters, Childcare Strategy, Land Services, Culture and Leisure, facilities and a SIP representative.
This group used an audit of play areas which had been undertaken at the beginning of the project and brought this up to date. In addition to this an information gathering exercise was carried out across the five housing association areas within the East End which looked at facilities including community halls, churches, voluntary organisations and schools to identify what resources were available and how they were currently being used. This allowed for a comprehensive list of organisations operating East End wide which identified gaps in services, duplication of services and possibilities for future links with groups and services. The area plan has proved to be a useful tool in identifying priorities and has influenced the redirection of resources to the East End.
