David McLuckie wins a Project Scotland Voscar!
Congratulations to David for winning a Voscar!
Project Scotland provides volunteering placements for young people and David volunteered full-time 12 weeks at Playbusters. The annual Voscar (Volunteer Oscar) awards honour the fantastic contribution of young people, organisations and mentors who work so hard throughout the year. David was honoured with a ‘Voscar’ in the ‘significant contribution’ category for his commitment and hard-work. The ceremony took place in Edinburgh on Thursday 20th January 2011.

Community Champions Award 2011
A huge well done to Playbusters' volunteers Chelsea and Audrey, and Playbusters' staff Anne-Marie who were all nominated for Glasgow's Evening Times' Community Champions Awards 2011.

Playbusters are developing their environmental programme thanks to an award from Climate Challenge Fund.
Playbusters Summer Programme
Playbusters' Summer Programme has finished for another year with 244 attendances to various activities over a five week period. From the 12th of July to the 12th August young people were able to take part in a range of activities including Fire Reach safety, allotments, fishing, fun days at local parks, gardening projects at sheltered housing complexes, spanish workshops and trips to Blairdrummond Safari Park, Summerlee Heritage Park and Ayr beach and many others.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which began in 1984. It celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. It raises the profile of volunteers who regularly contribute, while inspiring others to get involved too.
Playbusters Young Volunteers Community Champions 2010 WINNERS!
Congratulations to the Young Volunteers of Playbusters who were chosen for the East Centre and Calton Young Community Champions award. Also congratulations to volunteer Andy Forrester who made it all the way to the final of the Senior category.
The Easy Spanish classes are starting Monday 19th April from 6:30 - 8:30pm in the Playbusters office, 1345-1351 Gallowgate. Please call the office on 5510071 for more information and to book a place.

There are a few new sections that have been added to the website. Firstly, there is now a page with more information on becoming a volunteer with Playbusters. Whenever there are volunteer posts available, news will be posted in this section, also we will update soon with information from our current volunteers.
Surf Awards 2009
For over ten years, the SURF awards have helped to recognise and promote successful regeneration initiatives. This year, Playbusters received an award for their 'People' category at the SURF Awards presentation dinner at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow city centre. Here are the judges comments -
Firstport Social Enterprise
Firstport and Scotland Unltd are working together in Scotland to provide advice and funding opportunities for new start social entrepreneurs. Two main funds are available to individuals who have great ideas and the vision, passion, drive and commitment to develop them.
Social Entrepreneurs Fund
The Scottish Government's Social Entrepreneurs Fund is a £1 million fund aimed at individuals with ideas to start up new social enterprise in Scotland.
Millennium Awards Trust
Scotland Unltd's Millennium Awards is part of Unltd's UK wide programme and makes awards to social entrepreneurs who want to change the world for the better.
To make things simple, Firstport and Scotland Unltd have created a single application form and process for both funds.
