Playbusters Young Volunteers Community Champions 2010 WINNERS!
Congratulations to the Young Volunteers of Playbusters who were chosen for the East Centre and Calton Young Community Champions award. Also congratulations to volunteer Andy Forrester who made it all the way to the final of the Senior category.
The young volunteers are truly a success story and have been a positive influence in their community in many ways.
As Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers they have cleaned up local areas and beyond making it a nicer place to be for everyone.
By voicing their own opinions and promoting child poverty issues they are educating policy makers on what life is really like for children living in poverty.
Their enthusiasm and commitment are infectious and they encourage others to participate while developing their own skills.
They are becoming responsible citizens themselves and by doing this are good role models to other young people of all ages. They encourage other young people to take part and do the same.
Local people have commented on how wonderful it is to see young people making such a difference in their community and that this is combating the negative stereotypes of young people that some may have.
