Playbusters celebrates Volunteers' Week
Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. The Week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too.
We celebrated Volunteers’ Week on Friday 3rd June 2011 and the night was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The evening saw a whole family of five volunteering together and receiving certificates as well as another family where three generations are volunteering together. The event gave volunteers the opportunity to share their experiences over shared food and refreshments. It was also a fantastic opportunity for staff to enjoy a relaxed evening with the volunteers.
As part of Volunteers’ Week celebrations volunteers and staff were invited to complete a questionnaire about their experiences of either being volunteers or of working with them. The completed forms provide a valuable and inspiring insight into the way that people value volunteering as a means to increasing their self confidence and opportunities whilst evidencing the wonderful contributions volunteers make to the working life of Playbusters staff.
